As you know, the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) will hold its 2015 (75th Anniversary) conference in Baltimore Maryland from June 26 to July 1. In light of recent events and civil disturbance in Baltimore, our staff met with state, local and federal law enforcement leaders, the Maryland Sheriffs’ Association, the Baltimore police chief and senior city officials. Our goal was to ascertain that NSA could reliably and safely conduct its Annual Conference and Presidential Forum in Baltimore. All of the parties have reached the consensus decision that the events can proceed as planned within the realm of safety and security needed to ensure a successful conference. NSA has put together the most comprehensive agenda in its history which is designed to provide the most complete conference experience ever. To that end, we plan to have additional security measures in place to ensure only properly credentialed attendees can participate. The conference is replete with: committee meetings and general sessions where future positions for NSA will be decided; over 100 educational sessions, including nationally prominent speakers; exhibits from more than 350 vendors, showing the latest in innovative technology and products; networking opportunities with state, local and federal agency personnel; and a first-ever, Presidential Forum designed to give aspiring Presidential hopefuls – from both parties – the opportunity to hear law enforcement’s voice. Please review your schedules and plan to share these events with us, and don’t forget to bring key command staff and deputies for our educational sessions. |
