Missoula jail transfers 14 inmates to Ravalli County amid overcrowding |

The Missoula County jail last week transferred 14 inmates to the Ravalli County detention facility, citing severe overcrowding. "We needed the room," assistant commander Barbara Roderick said Tuesday. "We had people sleeping on the floor and there was no room in the (housing pods.)" Roderick said two or three inmates were sleeping in each booking cell because Missoula's 395-inmate facility was at capacity. "It's progressively getting worse," Roderick said of the overcrowding. "We are becoming more of a felony-hold jail than a misdemeanor-hold jail." Read More. |
