Redico plans $150 million redevelopment of former women's prison site in Northville

The site of a former state prison for women that closed six years ago is expected to be turned into a $150 million mixed-use development in western Wayne County.

The Northville Township board of trustees approved entering into a purchase agreement with Redico LLC last month for the 57-acre former Robert Scott Correctional Facility site at Five Mile and Beck roads, across the street from where the Southfield-based developer purchased about 59 acres nearly two years ago.

Dale Watchowski, CEO, COO and president of Redico, said the development is expected to include about 200,000 square feet of retail space, a 120-room hotel and about 150 residences developed by Farmington Hills-based Pinnacle Homes.

There would be a combination of for-sale and for-rent residences, Watchowski said.
