Shumlin: VT won't rest until inmates captured |

WATERBURY — Vermont will contribute any money and resources necessary to help put two escaped New York inmates back behind bars, Gov. Peter Shumlin says. "We know that these two men are ruthless, nasty killers," Shumlin said. "Just look at their records. They will do anything to achieve their freedom, because they're in for a long time. And they've got a history of doing horrid things to people. "These are not people that you want to mess with," he continued. "These are people who should be behind bars, they're not behind bars, and we're not going to rest until they are behind bars." Shumlin spoke Thursday about ongoing public-safety efforts, including patrols by boat on Lake Champlain, one day after reports the two convicted murderers who broke out of prison last weekend had planned to come to Vermont. The governor was joined at a Waterbury news conference by Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn and Vermont State Police director Col. Tom L'Esperance. Read More. |
