State still waiting for execution drugs |

Questions persist about whether the state will actually get two of the drugs needed to carry out a death penalty that has been repealed in Nebraska. Prisons Director Scott Frakes has ordered them -- enough, in fact, to carry out hundreds of executions. Gov. Pete Ricketts is moving ahead, not only with trying to get the drugs but now to stop the death penalty repeal from going into effect at the end of August and getting the question on a 2016 ballot. Ricketts had announced a day before second-round debate began on the death penalty repeal bill (LB268) last month that the state did indeed have a way to carry out death sentences, or would soon.
