An inmate attacked a correctional officer at the St. Clair County Correctional Facility Wednesday night, according to authorities. The inmate assaulted the officer with a blunt object after approaching him during a security check, according to Bob Horton of the Alabama Department of Corrections. The officer, who Horton said was not stabbed during the incident, was treated and taken off-site with non-life threatening injuries. This is not the first incident of violence the facility has seen in 2015. Fifteen inmates were treated after an April riot and the facility. Another officer was injured in April.
