Member of the Local Coordinating Council met recently and although attendance was smaller than normal heard an informal presentation from Rush County Community Corrections Director, Ashley Stevens. Stevens spoke on a number of changes in the department she heads. LCC coordinator Bob Bridges then asked a number of questions regarding funding for the department that helps reduce overcrowding at the Rush County Jail through to a number of programs; home detention and work release programs for non-violent offenders. The LCC does not meet during July and Stevens will give a detailed program on community corrections during the August 21 meeting. In other unrelated matters, Bridges said that inquired have been made about available monies available for the fall LCC funding cycle by Benjamin Rush Middle School. Read More. |
