OWLS HEAD — While the search for murderers Richard Matt and David Sweat continues in the forests and swamps surrounding the hamlets of Owls Head and Mountain View, a symbiotic relationship is being formed in the community between the police hunting them and residents. For hours on end, state police and state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision officers stand at checkpoints, sometimes only several yards away from one another, checking each vehicle and, in some instances, asking for identification of those they stop. But while it may seem like a hardship, intrusion and inconvenience for those who live in the area, residents have been giving thanks and delivering food and drink to the troopers and officers, many of whom are out-of-towners. Owls Head residents Ellie L. Robistow and her husband, Armand E., have had their 1970 County Route 27 home bookended by checkpoints since a command post was created at the fire station Sunday. The post was moved to Upper Titus Mountain on County Route 41, also known as Fayette Road, on Wednesday. “This doesn’t bother us.
