Miami group unites children with their moms in prison

LOWELL – Eight-year-old Tysamara Berrios, her grandmother, her brother and her sister had left from their residence in Homestead and arrived around midnight at Trinity Church in Miami.

The family slept there, and waking up around 5 a.m. Thursday, they ate breakfast, got on a bus and headed for Marion County.

Tysamara said she was excited for the trip because she would get to see her mother, Graciela “Grace” Berrios.

“I haven't seen my mom in a very long time,” Tysamara said, smiling as she waited anxiously in the Visiting Park at Florida Women's Reception Center in Lowell.
