Keeping public aware of hiring needs at state correctional institution a priority

County Commissioner Alonzo Ellis Jr. and Bullock County Development Authority (BCDA) Economic Developer Dr. Julian Cope met last week and talked about efforts to continue the promotion of hiring at the local state operated correctional institution. Over one hundred correctional officers are needed there and salaries range from $28,516 to $43,339. Interested folk should call 866-293-7799 for information.

Both Ellis and Cope agreed “these are good jobs that will indeed help sustain family needs, and can lead into other state jobs with Alabama Department of Corrections (DOC).”

The two reviewed a correspondence to Dr. Cope from Captain Mark Loman, Director of Recruitment for the Department of Corrections (DOC) wherein the Captain thanked them for their aid in informing interested candidates about the official examination event held at Ventress Correctional Institution near Clayton on June 5. It appears that while 112 people went through the application procedure, it is not known how many were from Bullock County.
