Ex-inmate housing is moving forward |

ENID, Okla. — Plans for housing former inmates in Enid continue to move forward with the city commission approving an ordinance for a planned unit development overlay on Tuesday. Through the PUD, Forgotten Ministries will place oil field “bunk style” housing at 1804 S. 4th — which is zoned R-3 residential mobile home neighborhood district. Each unit will house 12 individuals and there are plans for two units. Jeremiah Herrian, of Forgotten Ministries, addressed the concerns of some nearby residents. “This is program housing for guys that are free. They are no longer incarcerated. These guys could move anywhere they want in Enid,” he said. “Our goal with this program housing is to help set up a place to help these guys transition back in society, because one of the problems that we have is 86 percent of these inmates that get out return to the same drug issues, the same girlfriend, gang, whatever you want to call it.
