Former investigator says Mercer jail mismanaged, lax on procedures |

Bob Johnson only worked for the Mercer County Correction Center for about three months last year, but what he saw troubled him. Johnson, a retired state corrections captain, said he ended up quitting a lucrative position at the Mercer jail as an internal affairs investigator because of mismanagement and lax procedures. One specific issue that still troubles Johnson, of Ewing, was that he was issued a handgun and an identification card identifying him as an "investigator" with full police powers.
