THOMASVILLE, Ga. -- Thomas County authorities have shut down their command post in the search for two inmates who escaped from a work detail Tuesday around noon. Authorities tell Eyewitness News they have no reason to believe that the escaped inmates are still in the initial search area. It is likely that U.S. Marshals will take over the case and continue the search. Officials with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office say the men walked away from a Georgia Department of Corrections detail along Boat Ramp Road outside of Thomasville. Joshua Fountain, 28, and James Waldron, 37, were incarcerated at Thomas County Prison. Read More. |
