ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York auditors say the state is failing to adequately monitor its most dangerous sex offenders, often not making the required six monthly contacts including two curfew checks. The comptroller's audit examines compliance with the state's Sex Offender Management and Treatment Act. The Department of Corrections and Community Supervision monitors compliance with court-ordered releases of offenders who have a mental abnormality that predisposes them to offend again. Read More. |
