Three Lake County residents have been accused in federal court of attempting to provide or possess contraband in prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Indiana said.

Named in a criminal complaint are David Victor, 23, of Merrillville; Ellisa Salazar, 22, of Griffith; and Julian Rebeles, 24, of Hammond.

Rebeles is currently under federal indictment for his alleged involvement in the Latin King RICO conspiracy and narcotics case.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, approximately 14 jail phone calls were monitored between Rebeles and his girlfriend, Ellisa Salazar, in which it’s alleged that Rebeles instructed Salazar to purchase a cellular telephone and pay an individual $1,000 to give it to Rebeles while he was still incarcerated.
