Ark. women's prison in dire condition; may lease hospital |

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (KTHV) -- Officials with the Arkansas Department of Correction said the women's prison in Pine Bluff is in dire condition and a solution might be to lease a hospital. According to Mayor Debe Hollingsworth, a petition has started for concerned citizens to sign as moving the Southeast Arkansas Department of Community Corrections Women's Unit from Pine Bluff could put more than 130 jobs at stake. The Associated Press reports ADC officials are looking at the Crittenden County Hospital to lease and use as its new facility. Dina Tyler with ADC said $650,000 is budgeted for repairs that could go toward a leaky gym roof, or it go toward covering repairs and remodeling to house 350 inmates at the hospital.
