Inmate assaults two Corrections Department employees |

Lincoln, Neb. (News Release) State Corrections Department officials say that two Nebraska Department of Correctional Services staff members, assigned to the Nebraska State Penitentiary, were assaulted by an inmate March 9, 2016. At approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, NSP staff were securing inmates in their cells for the evening when a correctional officer directed an inmate to return to his cell. The inmate struck the officer. A nearby officer assisted in subduing the inmate and was also struck as they took control of the situation. The first officer struck was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and released. Read More. |
