PERRY, Fla. – A Florida Department of Corrections food service employee was arrested Wednesday following a criminal investigation by the Office of Inspector General. Franchesca Smith has been charged with Unlawful Compensation or Reward for Official Behavior, Conspiracy to Commit Introduction of Contraband into a Correctional Institution and Money Laundering. According to the arrest warrant, Smith conspired with an inmate to bring synthetic cannabis and tobacco into the Taylor County Correctional Institution.
