Missouri inmate accused in beating death of cellmate |

(Daily Journal Online) – A Potosi Correctional Center inmate is being charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly beat his cellmate in October. Brandon Kulhanek, 38, currently serving an 18-year prison sentence, is being charged with a class A felony of murder in the first degree and a class B felony of committing violence against an offender in the Department of Corrections. According to a probable cause statement, on Oct. 14 Kulhanek got into a physical altercation with his cellmate, Daniel Wilson, in cell A-10. Wilson, 35, was pronounced dead at Washington County Hospital at 10:19 p.m. that evening and an autopsy was scheduled. Wilson was serving a life sentence for second-degree murder from St. Louis County and was first received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on April 13, 2011. The report said the autopsy was completed on Oct. 15 and it was determined that Wilson had several injuries to the head, throat and body. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death to be from a crushed larynx. Read More. |
