MANCI's Lazaroff named top warden by national group |

MANSFIELD - Warden Al Lazaroff of the Mansfield Correctional Institution was chosen as the Co-Warden of the Year by the North American Association of Wardens and Superintendents. Lazaroff, who also was Ohio Warden of the Year, received the award at the American Correctional Association 146th Congress of Correction in Boston on Monday evening. Senior Warden James L. Jones of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Correctional Institutions Division was the other co-warden honoree. Lazaroff was made aware he was chosen for the award this past spring, but admitted he didn't think he stood much of a chance. "I was nominated by (Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections) Director Gary Mohr," he said Tuesday by telephone. "I was honored, but you know my staff are really the people who get the job done.
