Six injured in head-on crash involving Corrections van on Illinois 29 |

EDINBURG – Six people were taken to Springfield hospitals Thursday morning following a head-on collision on Illinois 29 near Edinburg, Illinois State Police said. The accident occurred as a 15-year-old Taylorville girl was driving north on the highway a little after 8 a.m. Her Ford SUV crossed the centerline for some reason and struck a southbound Department of Corrections van head-on that was driven by Scott E. Baxter, 44, of Pontiac, state police said. There were two passengers in the vehicle driven by the teen. They were Lori L. Thomas, 48, of Taylorville and an 11-year-old girl.
