Inmate Charged With Striking Marion County Correctional Officer in the Face

Bond has been set at $175,000 for a 22-year-old Marion man who has been charged with aggravated battery for allegedly striking a Marion County Correctional Officer in the head over the weekend.

Keenan Parson had been asked to go back into his cell after reportedly mouthing off to the officer. Instead Parson allegedly struck the officer with his hands. Parson was quickly brought under control when additional correctional officers entered the cell to assist.

The public defender was appointed to represent Parson. Parson was already in custody on two Class X charges of armed violence, possession of a sawed off rifle, manufacture or delivery of 30 to 500 grams of cannabis and resisting arrest.
