alaska department of corrections does

The inmate is responsible for the property mail-out. He fills out a cash withdrawal slip with the forwarding address (where the property is to be sent). The cost of postage is deducted from his account. Postage cost is recorded on the cash withdrawal slip.

We first encourage the inmate to release the property to someone if they know they are going to prison. DOC will only accept so much.If that doesn't happen, it all goes with them to DOC. DOC will throw out whatever they can't or won't store.

Male_user delta4 2 posts most departments will give the Inmate the option of mailing it home or having someone pick it up. the Inmate has to give name and address and have the money placed on his prisoner money on deposit (PMOD) account before the property will be shipped. If it is to be picked up the inmate must give full name address and telephone number for verification of person picking up property

The inmate has an option to send the property home or schedule for pick up. If he doesn't do any of those, then after 90 days from his discharge date (to state or home) his property are given to charity organization, so they could be used by those in need.

Federal penitentiary in Canada send inmate property that is not authorized to the inmate family. The cost is billed to the inmate.

yes we mail it, but the inmate must pay for shipping!

The property of the inmate will not be shipped directly to the family or friend but will be placed in property for 90 days unless picked up in person by inmate if released before 3 months or by relative or a friend with holding the receipt.
