Description: Associate's degree and one year of full-time professional experience in criminology, parole/probation work, psychology, or social work requiring case management and/or resident evaluation of inmates; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. Experience and education required: High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years' full-time professional experience as listed above. Associate's degree and one year of full-time professional experience as listed above. Must possess a current State of Florida Correctional Officer certificate and meet any other State of Florida Correctional Officer requirements under Florida Law; Correctional Officer Certification must be maintained as a condition of employment; re- certification required every four years. A valid Florida Driver License is required and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets the requirements of Alachua County policy # 6-7; Motor Vehicle Records will be reviewed prior to employment. If in the past 24-month period, the record shows more than 3 moving traffic violations, and/or a conviction/pending charge for driving under the influence, the minimum qualifications are not met for the position. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination is required prior to employment. Must satisfactorily complete local, state and national criminal history and fingerprint checks. Must successfully obtain the FDLE Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Certification within 6 months of employment or upon assignment which requires access to the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Certification must be maintained as a condition of employment; re-certification required every two years. This is Level One certification. Must successfully obtain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification within 6 months of employment and must maintain certification during employment. NOTE: This position is assigned to the County Work Release Facility housing female inmates. In accordance with the Florida Model Jail Standards, Section 4.05, this position must be filled by a female. Therefore, only female applicants meeting the posted minimum requirements will be considered for this position. This position is pending BOCC approval on October 8, 2019. Position Summary: This is responsible supervisory, counseling and security work in the Department of Court Services/ Work Release Program. An employee assigned to this classification oversees the care, custody, control, and case management of resident inmates. The employee supervises staff and a limited number of resident inmates as a caseload and monitors, verifies and ensures compliance with program security functions. Work is performed under the direction of a higher level supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, reports and observations of results obtained.
