Description: I. Statement of Function: The primary function of the Life Skill Worker II is to implement the clinical activities, which support the daily clinical schedule. In addition, the Life Skills Worker II assists in case management supervises clients, monitors and addresses client behavior, and documents services in clinical files. II. Responsibilities, Duties, Standards of Performance The following statements reflect responsibilities and competencies necessary to describe the core function of this position. Measurement and evaluation criteria are outlined on the Clinical Competency Tracking Form that is used to track the evaluation of these competencies. * Interacts meaningfully with clients * Observes client behavior and intervenes appropriately * Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills. * Provides effective people security (headcounts, room checks, client movement, etc.) * Processes intakes and screens clients * Implements daily activity schedule - structures and coordinates client activities (i.e. family night, recreation, etc?) * Facilitates and documents various psycho-educational groups/meetings (i.e. theme groups, D&A Education Seminars, process and procedure meetings, etc?) * Supervises self-administration of medication III. Summary of Job Duties: This list represents a general summary of the duties that a Life Skill Worker II is required to fulfill in the performance of his/her job. Communicates Effectively * Uses communication systems effectively (i.e. Communication Log, E-Mail, Shift Plans, Feedback Log, Status Recommendation Sheet, Incident Reports) * Maintains regular communication with co-workers * Communicates effectively with clients * Provides verbal and written updates to supervisors * Communicates effectively with support services ? Demonstrates Professionalism in Performance of Job * Implements Abraxas policies on professional expectations, code of conduct and other practices and procedures * Serves as a role model for clients * Supports agency mission, goals and objectives * Demonstrates effort in professional development ? Participates as a Member of the Treatment Team * Supports co-workers * Requests and accepts feedback * Gives feedback * Attends and participates in staff meetings * Participates in the development of shift plans * Coordinates and communicates consistently with co-workers * Maintains knowledge of each client's problem areas * Performs other duties as assigned ? Maintains Safety & Security of Clients & Facility * Conducts fire and safety checks * Conducts frequent headcounts * Knows and implements emergency procedures (evacuation, CPR/First Aid, etc?) IV. Qualifications Minimum Education/Experience: * High School Diploma or GED Required Skills/Abilities/Characteristics: * Ability to promote positive behavior and manage resistant behavior * Physical ability to safely and effectively manage aggressive behavior * Assertiveness, confidence and leadership abilities * Good oral and written communication skills * Good time management skills * At least twenty-one (21) years of age * A valid Pennsylvania drivers license Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and use legs to lift/move not more than 50 lbs. Required to intervene with and/or physically manage aggressive clients as trained by safe crisis management. The employee must work both alone and closely with others and may be subject to verbal and/or physical confrontation initiated by the clients.
