Description: TYPE OF POSITION PT/ FT POINT OF HIRE Monterey, CA SCHEDULE Rotating Shifts HOURS 12 hr shifts REPORTS TO Security Supervisor FSLA STATUS Non-exempt STARTING PAY $13.65 + $3.24 H&W + $1.42 retention bonus - Per Hour DATE POSTED 3.9.09 DATE CLOSED Open continuous JOB SUMMARY: Doyon Security Services (DSS) Security Guard enforces regulations designed to prevent breaches of security. Exercises judgment and use discretion in dealing with whether first response should be to intervene directly (asking for assistance when deemed necessary and time allows), to keep situation under surveillance, or to report situation so that it can be handled by appropriate authority. Duties require specialized training in methods and techniques of protecting security areas. Commonly, the guard is required to demonstrate continuing physical fitness and proficiency with firearms or other special weapons. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Verify identity of all persons entering installations and assess all vehicles for threats to the installation. •Will check visitor identifications against access rosters. •Deter and prevent, by use of necessary use of force, unauthorized access to the installation through the access control point. •Maintain radio contact with the installation military/DA Police command and control radio net. •Each employee is expected to adhere to standards of conduct that reflect credit on themselves, their employer and the U.S. Army. •Each employee performing security guard duties shall meet the reliability standards of the individual Reliability Program (IRP) defined in chapter 3 of Army Regulation 190-56. •Provide ingress/egress control at the station of assignment, and conduct personnel or package, searches in accordance with local SOPs. •Maintain a log of all personnel and vehicles entering and leaving the guard station, as required by the specific Installation SOP. •Immediately report illegal acts/ incidents, any attempts of unauthorized entry and all suspicious or unusual activity in accordance with local SOP. •Immediately report illegal acts/incidents, any attempts of unauthorized entry and all suspicious or unusual activity IAW local SOP. •Notify the military police and/or fire department in the event of an emergency situation. •Comply with Special Guard Post Requirements. •Security guards under this contract shall bear and may use firearms while performing security guard duties. •Shall perform vehicle inspections inside and outside motor vehicles to locate and identify threats to the installation. •Properly detect and detain, by necessary use of force, persons suspected of committing other offenses such as drunk driving, improper transport of weapons, or other criminal violations IAW local SOPs and/or special orders. •Provide ingress/egress control using physical security buy an drop equipment (GE Ionizer, Rapiscan, fixed and portable barriers, bollards, mirrors, Vapor Tracker II) and operate automated IACP technology at the station of assignment, and conduct personnel, package, and/or vehicle inspections IAW local SOPs. •Provide (if government identified for the installation) a Mobile Random Anti-terrorism Measures and Procedures (MRAMP) Inspection Team (which is part of the current daily CME numbers) to use GSA vehicles to move from one IACP to another for the purpose of conduction RAM inspections. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: •Able to speak, read, write and understand English. •Ability to pass the medical and physical testing requirements. QUALIFICATIONS: •US citizen. •At least 21 years of age. •Valid CA state driver's license •Prior military and/or law enforcement experience preferred. •Preference to those applicants with prior experience as contract security officers on US Army installations and/or current certifications with the ASP Baton, OC Spray, and Defensive Tactics. •Applicants must be able to provide verifiable employment/personal references for the most recent five years. *Relocation fees not available.
