| Description: | The Reeves County Detention Center (RCDC) is a 3,760-bed prison contracted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons that houses non-citizen offenders. The RCDC is owned and operated by Reeves County with The GEO Group, Inc., who provides management services associated with the operation of the complex. The facility is made up of two separate facilities, RCDC I & II and RCDC III.
Inmate programs at the facility include recreational activities, vocational programs, and course offerings in various areas including electrical repair, typing, basic computer skills, basic home wiring, GED preparation, and English as a Second Language. These programs teach important skills that assist with daily inmate productivity and reduction of recidivism upon release. Within the Education & Programming Department of the Reeves County Detention Center and under general direction (with extensive latitude for individual judgment) of the Programs Manager, the Sr. Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing complex high quality drug and alcohol counseling and educational services to inmates housed at the facility. This position will also coordinate with other departments, divisions, agencies, and community organizations to ensure maximum utilization of resources for chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
• Supervisory level responsibilities for overall success of all functions and responsibilities in Substance Abuse. Directs all department work through subordinate supervisors; performs as Administrative Duty Officer or Institution Duty Officer.

• Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Science or Human Services field (e.g. psychology, sociology, criminal justice) from an accredited college or university required AND/OR a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Certified Associate Addiction Professional Licensure (CAAP), or other related professional credential

• Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes

• Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs and ladders, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry 45 lbs. and over, perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, operate motor equipment, perform tactile discernment, and restrain assaultive persons.
