| Description: | The Director of Medical Services oversees and provides leadership for the health care services activities within Correctional Managed Healthcare in accordance with national standards and administrative policies. Coordinates the medical programs and services provided, performing these duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Executive Director, CMHC ORGANIZATION: CMHC provides global medical, mental health, pharmacy, and dental services at all 16 Connecticut Department of Correction facilities statewide, at 42 halfway houses and at the UCHC John Dempsey Hospital. Fiscal Year 2011 expenditures were $91.0M. As of June, 2011, services were provided by 734 full-time equivalent staff (a total of 807 individuals) to a population of 18,906 individuals. In FY 2011, CMHC staff delivered care ranging from prenatal to chronic disease management to hospice services; provided over a quarter million mental health visits; dispensed over 8.6 million doses of medication with Automed robots and Pyxis Connect technology; provided over 15,000 hours of training and education to staff; engaged over 100 health care students, residents, interns, graduate students and fellows; expanded facility based quality improvement; and obtained over $1.6 million of external research funding. |
