Description: | Qualifications: This position is responsible for one or more of the operational elements aligned with Support Services and activities related to Agency Management and Institutional Custody.
Applicant must have experience that equips him/her with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully typically in/or related to the work of the position to be filled. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower position in the normal line of progression for the organization is required; or equivalent experience as a Major, Captain or supervisor performing duties involving the supervision of incarcerated individuals in a facility that operates on a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week basis. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills sufficient to prepare and present information and proposals to management officials, families, correctional entities and community groups. The incumbent must have a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of planning, programming and budgetary regulations. Must be prepared to present and implement measures for long and short term goals for the agency. Applicant must have expert knowledge of the missions, philosophy, goals, objectives, operating principles and requirement of a penal environment. Incumbent serves as technical authority and advisor regarding the incarceration/detainment and institutional housing of pretrial detainees and misdemeanants pending transfer to other facilities and jurisdictions. |
Special Instructions: | Desired knowledge: The incumbent has overview direction, deployment and post coverage for the entire Correctional workforce through the ranks of major and clerical support for administrative process, security compliances, communication reliability, armory weapons and ammunition storage, issuance, repairs, tool/key control, constructions maintenance oversight, drug testing and training coordination. Incumbent directs interchangeable assignment for administrative process.
Applicant must have substantive knowledge of the standards of the American Correctional Association and of related organizations involved in penal health care, including but not limited to the National Commission of Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) and the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHCO). Must have mastery knowledge and skill in application of management and organizations principles and practices. Incumbent is responsible for oversight and monitoring control in the areas of facility maintenance, environmental security control, staffing levels, training needs, human treatment for life safety, climate and health services, inmate admission and classification, records management, quality/quantity of food services and inmate services. |
