Description: Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Affairs, Science, Interdisciplinary studies, or closely related field and four (4) years of experience in human or community services, corrections, or a residential treatment facility. Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a jail, prison, or community corrections setting. Community services include counseling, employment, transitional, and other services.

Representative Duties:
  • Manages assigned unit
  • Assists in formulating goals and objectives for long and short term planning
  • Interprets policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and ensures staff members follow same
  • Directs and oversees activities of staff in an assigned area of responsibility. Performs such supervisory duties as instructing, assigning, reviewing, and planning work of others. Allocates personnel, acts on employees' problems, selects new employees, and recommends disciplinary actions, discharges, transfers, and promotions.
  • Serves as a liaison with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and community groups
  • Provides technical assistance to staff and supervisors
  • Monitors all areas of responsibility to ensure quality control.
  • Conducts research and analyzes data such as monthly statistical reports, etc, and utilizes such data in planning functions.
  • Develops policies and procedures for assigned unit.
  • Ensures all rules and regulations are followed by subordinate staff.

An employee in this classification, based on area of assignment may be responsibile for training; payroll; contract procurement, and budget administration and strategic planning.
Ensures safety and welfare of inmates, staff, and visitors.
Oversees all Work Release activities
Ensures staff meet all training and development requirements
Develops and structures program activities according to accreditation and Orange County Corrections Department standards. Responsible for quality management of all facility activities, including all audits, inspections, and accreditations.
Reviews and responds to all audit and inspections results
