| Description: | The Mental Health Clinician II position at the Kenai Peninsula Youth Facility/South Central Region Probation is a professional position responsible for the direct clinical oversight of behavioral health services for youth involved with the Division of Juvenile Justice. The position is responsible for providing a broad range of behavioral health interventions and services to youth which includes facilitating interventions that embrace the balanced approach of Restorative Justice, and providing clinical supervision, consultation and training for facility and probation staff regarding how to work effectively with youth at risk of or experiencing mental illness. Under general supervision of the Mental Health Clinician IV and Superintendents, and as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, the Mental Health Clinician II performs a wide range of services in the facility, including: •Consultation and guidance to line staff regarding the implementation of appropriate interventions. •Acts as a resource for staff interested in learning more about mental health issues/treatment of juveniles. •Provides training to facility staff in areas relevant to adolescent development, cognitive impairment, mental health diagnoses, substance abuse, and suicide prevention. •Reviews and responds to suicide screenings and develops suicide safety plans. •Individual, family, and group therapy and crisis intervention as needed. •Written and verbal assessments of the mental health needs of juveniles and develops coordinating interventions to address those needs. |
