A maximum-security prison officer in Canada who was the subject of an alleged murder plot by prisoners is no longer at the penitentiary where the plan was hatched, his union said recently. Sylvain Martel, president of the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers, said the unnamed officer is not working at Saskatchewan Penitentiary, but his family is still taking counseling to help them cope with what happened. The situation came to light in the August 20 edition of the National Post. The paper reported that the officer was a target of threats by the Indian Posse -- a violent street gang. When the plot was uncovered by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the officer and his family were secretly moved, the paper reported. |
