Louisiana Prison Chaplain Arrested on Theft Charges

The man serving as chaplain at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for the past two years was locked up Monday with the inmates he used to minister.
Rev. Gregory White, 47, 8368 Prescott Road, was booked into parish prison on charges of illegal possession of stolen things and malfeasance in office.
Detectives said they found stolen heavy equipment on his property Monday after a tip led them there.
White had a stolen back hoe, 2 bush hogs and a generator light like the ones you see on interstate construction zones.
'It's a sad time any time any policeman, especially a deputy is arrested,' East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Lt. Darrell O'Neal said. 'But sadly, we had to do our job and prefer these charges.'
White had no comment as he was led away from the Sheriff's department and off to jail. Investigators said he is also the Pastor of Beech Grove Baptist Church on Thomas Road in Baker.
O'Neal also said more arrests are expected. He could not comment on how detectives learned of White's crimes without harming the investigation.
