Officials said they captured Jeffrey Witscher October 3 at his estranged wife's home on Harbor Grove Church Road in Wilkes County. Witscher escaped from the Wilkesboro Jail on September 29. Wilkes County Sheriff Dane Mastin said Wisher broke into the home, and a friend of Witscher's wife shot him. Witscher is being treated for gunshot wounds to the hand and leg. He was convicted last week on four counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor, according to officials. Wilkes County Sheriff Dane Mastin said other prisoners distracted officers to help Witscher escape. |
