Federal investigators say a Fort Lauderdale man who is serving a life sentence for sexually assaulting his infant son tried to hire a hit man to kill the judge and the prosecutor who sent him away. A criminal complaint says Martin Correctional Institution inmate Francisco Beltran, was trying to find someone on the outside who had access to pipe bombs. It says Beltran claimed to already have someone to place the bombs that would kill Broward Circuit Judge Mark Speiser, Assistant State Attorney Dennis Siegel and possibly State Attorney Mike Satz. Beltran was convicted of raping his infant son in October 1994 and sentenced in January 1996 to life in prison. Prosecutors say they found out about the alleged plot in August and took steps to protect themselves. |
