| Indiana Man Abducted by Jail Escapees |

A tri-state man survives a frightening ordeal after being kidnapped from his home. The manhunt continues for the two jail escapees who police believe took 42-year-old James Hawkins from his Hanson, Kentucky home around 9pm Tuesday. Hawkins was found cold and hungry around two o'clock Wednesday afternoon. He was tied to a tree north of Evansville. Hawkins says he had a terrifying 17 hours with his kidnappers. He's got some pretty severe cuts and bruises on his wrists from struggling all night to escape. But he's OK. This all happened because Hawkins was trying to be a good Samaritan. Authorities say He gave 20-year-old Branden Basham and 25-year-old Chadrick Fulks a ride to Henderson after they came to his door saying their car broke down. Once in Henderson, police say the pair pulled a knife on him, then tied him to a tree with electrical tape around 11pm Tuesday. He was wearing shorts and flip-flops and suffered cuts while trying to get himself loose. Hawkins finally broke free and flagged down a motorist. Authorities are looking for Hawkins' blue 1989 GMC Sierra Z71 full size pickup truck with a chrome brush guard and toolbox. License plate number is FDA178. If you see the truck, please call 911. Basham was serving a five-year sentence for criminal possession of a forged instrument when he escaped from jail Monday night. Fulks is a felon awaiting trial on robbery charges. Authorities say the two men are considered armed and dangerous. |
