Two inmates made a run for it yesterday afternoon when a stolen Jeep Cherokee tore through a fence at the Kansas City Municipal Correctional Institution, KMBC reported. Authorities said at least one of the suspects had planned the escape with an outside party. That person drove the Jeep through the fence at the facility, officials said. The Jeep was abandoned a short distance away. Oscar Rodriguez, 30, and Bryon Allinder, 22, escaped through the hole in the fence and took off in different directions. Allinder had been incarcerated for traffic violations. Rodriguez had been in the facility awaiting trial on a domestic dispute. Nancy Leazer, the superintendent of the facility, heard a commotion and when she looked out a window, she saw the inmates running away. Leazer said she believes Rodriguez was already outside at the time the Jeep crashed through the fence, and simply took advantage of a situation he probably knew nothing about. Police searching for the two inmates, as well as the driver of the stolen Jeep. If you have any information regarding this case, call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS. |
