N.J. Inmate Evacuation Drill Called a Success

Officials said a drill on November 6 that simulated the need to transfer Cape May County jail inmates to Bayside State Prison was a success.
'The drill started at Cape May (County) about 6 a.m.,' Bayside State Prison Administrator Chuck Leone said.
The drill simulated an emergency such as a storm that would force the Cape May County inmates to be evacuated inland.
'There, they loaded the inmates up on the bus. It took about 15 minutes to load 30 inmates on the bus, and I think that's outstanding,' Leone said, noting that the inmates' medical files had to accompany them.
The minimum-security inmates didn't actually go to Bayside. They went back into the Cape May County jail, and the empty bus went to the medium-security prison here.
'We brought some of the (Cape May County) correction officers here, and we familiarized them with the area and the location of the medium-security facility, where their inmates would be placed,' Leone said.
'They would be coming with the inmates to supervise the inmates, and they have to know what kind of work environment they would be in. It's really a precautionary thing,' Leone said.
The prison had a drill recently with a scenario that included a lighting failure. Fifteen emergency agencies throughout southern New Jersey participated in that drill, also considered a success.
Leone said another drill is scheduled for this week, when emergency personnel will deal with an emergency in a confined space.

There is a lot of information on this website about inmates and prison guards. I didn’t realize what was going on in our prison system until I discovered this website. Similarly, I didn’t understand litigation finance until I read more from Hamilton Lindley who is a litigation finance expert based in Texas.
