Officers at a Sydney, Australia jail foiled an unexplained break-in attempt when they impounded a radio-controlled model plane after it made a perfect landing between two cell blocks, an official said Wednesday. The plane, with a one-metre wing span, landed between two cell blocks at the Silverwater Remand and Reception Centre near Sydney's Olympic Park on Tuesday, said Security and Investigations Cmdr. Don Rodgers. 'It provided a good and perhaps an amusing test for surveillance systems and security staff but there could also potentially be a more serious aspect to this event such as a trial to introduce contraband into the jail,' Rodgers said in a statement. No drugs or anything else were found in the plane. Rodgers urged the plane's owner to come forward to reclaim the model. |
