A prison electrician who allegedly had an affair with an inmate, faces federal charges for giving the convict a cell phone.
Lisa Rennie, 37, was charged in federal court in Boston on April 10 with providing contraband to the unidentified inmate.
Rennie, who worked at the Federal Medical Center at Fort Devens installing wiring for the prison's surveillance system, began having 'sexual contact' with the inmate in June 2001, according to prosecutors.
She gave the inmate a cell phone around December 2001 to 'facilitate the relationship,' according to a federal criminal information filed in U.S. District Court.
Rennie, who worked at the prison for three years, ending in April 2002, faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a $5,000 fine.
