Authorities in Brevard County, Fla., have captured an inmate who escaped from a work camp after saying he needed to use a bathroom, according to WKMG. Michael David Spear, 20, was caught around 8:30 p.m. April 22 walking near Flood Street in Port St. John near Kings Highway, Florida Today reported. The Florida Department of Corrections and sheriff's deputies searched by ground and air on the night of April 22 for Spear after he told a supervisor he had to use a restroom and then vanished from the Port Canaveral area. Spear was serving a one-year, four-month and two-day sentence for a burglary in Brevard County last July, according to Department of Corrections records. He began serving his sentence at the Brevard County work camp in Cocoa on Jan. 3 and was assigned to a group of about 10 inmates working five days a week at the port, according to Florida Today. |
