A prison inmate who fell from a pickup is suing the state. Testimony began January 21 in Kennebec County Superior Court for Jeffrey W. Hanson of North Yarmouth, who wants damages for pain and suffering resulting from the accident in April 1999. His lawyer blames the state worker who was driving the truck for allowing Hanson and several others to ride in the back. He says Hanson tumbled out when the driver stopped and then hit the gas. Hanson was released from prison last year after serving time for gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact. |
