Inmate Funds to Pay for Illinois Jail Staff

Boone County will house federal inmates at its state-of-the-art jail to pay for additional staff members it needs to bring nearly all of the facility online by August.
Officials say the inmates represent no additional dangers to residents of Boone County and that if problems were to arise with a particular inmate, he or she can be sent packing.
Funds raised by housing 15 to 20 federal inmates will go toward adding 10 full-time corrections officers. The county is expected to receive $65 a day for housing each inmate, County Administrator Ken Terrinoni said. Jail supervisor John Hare said those inmates are likely to be housed a year or less in Boone County.
Nearly two-thirds of the $9 million Boone County Jail that opened last year has sat idle because there are not enough workers to run it.
The county has 26 full-time corrections officers overseeing portions of the jail that are open and house 60 to 65 inmates. The 44,000-square-foot facility was designed to hold up to 150 prisoners.
The 10 new officers will bring the total full-time corrections officers work force to 36 people. A video court arraignment system probably will not come online until sometime next year.
The new jail features a computerized central command center with cameras at every corner, 62 in all. It's designed using a 'direct supervision' concept, in which inmates or detainees are allowed out of cells and into a communal area.
Renovations in the old jail are ongoing, with painting, freshening up of cellblocks and other upgrades still taking place. With the new jail and old jail online, the county can house up to 173 inmates in work release, isolation, general population, direct supervision and in other units.

Do you know someone who has been arrested in Waco or McLennan County? It’s important to find a good Waco lawyer to represent you in the matter involving your own liberty. Look for the best gerald villarrial that you can find. Whether you have been accused rightly or wrongly, it’s important to know your legal rights that concern whether you go to jail.
