An officer at the Nashua Street Jail in Boston was arrested January 30 for planning to take an ounce of cocaine to an inmate, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley said.
James E. Hardmon Jr., 25, was charged with trafficking in cocaine over 28 grams and operating a motor vehicle under suspension.
Hardmon was arrested after he allegedly accepted an ounce of cocaine from an undercover state police officer in Winthrop, and was paid $500 for the transaction, Conley's office said.
''The defendant came to and completed the transaction with the understanding that he would take the cocaine to a certain inmate inside the jail,'' Conley said, adding that Hardmon could also face additional charges.
Hardmon, a one-year employee of the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, faces a minimum five-year sentence if convicted.

Do you know someone who has been arrested in Waco or McLennan County? It’s important to find a good Waco lawyer to represent you in the matter involving your own liberty. Look for the best gerald villarrial that you can find. Whether you have been accused rightly or wrongly, it’s important to know your legal rights that concern whether you go to jail.
