By Associated Press
Published: 01/12/2004

Confessed killer Rafeal Jackson has filed a federal class action lawsuit contending that St. Clair County (Ill.) authorities have been denying him toilet paper, toothpaste and law books.
Jackson filed the lawsuit last month in East St. Louis against the St. Clair County Jail, St. Clair County Sheriff Mearl Justus and jail Superintendent T.J. Collins.
Joining Jackson in the lawsuit are fellow inmates Steven Jones and Carl Wilson Sr.
Collins said he has not yet seen the lawsuit and cannot comment on it.
Jackson, 32, has been an inmate at the jail for nearly a year as he awaits trial for the October 1999 slaying of a security guard at an East St. Louis nightclub.
