A Stanley Correctional Institute inmate has filed a $60 million lawsuit against the officers involved in his arrest. He says they planted evidence while searching his vehicle and home without permission. Douglas Uhde, 37, filed the federal suit against retired Adams County sheriff's employee Gary Silka Bitsky, sheriff's deputies Tammy Kroetz and Mark Bitsky, and Adams police officer Matthew Sherd. Deputies saw Uhde's car traveling in the opposite direction when they were responding to an alarm complaint on Aug. 20, 2001, according to a criminal complaint. They took down his license plate number, went to his home and found a shotgun and pry bar. |
