| Ohio Inmate Sentenced To Death For Killing Cellmate |

Convicted murderer Christopher Newton laughed and gave the victory sign as a judge sentenced him to death in Richland County for killing a cellmate. Judge James Henson sentenced Newton to die February 10 for the aggravated murder of Jason Brewer in November of 2001. Brewer was Newton's cellmate at the Mansfield Correctional Institution, when Newton beat and strangled him. Henson says Newton got the maximum sentence because the crime was committed while Brewer was locked in his cell with no chance to get away. Newton has the chance to appeal. |
