An off-duty police officer found and arrested a federal prisoner about six hours after the inmate was discovered missing from a minimum-security prison work camp in Terre Haute. The officer arrested Joshua Lockett on Friday around 10 p.m. after noticing, on his way back to the police station, a man matching the description prison officials had provided. Lockett at first claimed to be an Indiana State University student, but he could not provide a valid campus address, police said. Remembering that the description of the missing inmate mentioned tattoos, Brentlinger asked to see the man's arms. The man had crosses tattooed on each arm, matching the description. Lockett, 24, is serving a 151-month sentence for distribution of 50 grams or more of cocaine. He was taken to the Vigo County Jail for a temporary stay after his arrest. According to jail records, prison officials retrieved Lockett several hours later. |
