A female officer fired from the Maryland State Prison in Hagerstown for posing nude on the Internet, headed to an appeals hearing on Tuesday, but it could be more than a month before she learns her fate. 22-year-old Marcie Betts said her First Amendment rights have been violated. But before her appeal can move forward, Bett's attorney said they must settle a dispute over whether they are allowed to view certain prison documents. Officials from the Office of Administrative Hearings said that after the hearing, the judge will have up to 45 days to file a final decision. |
