A prison officer has resigned after being arrested on a number of charges, authorities said. Lucy Godfrey, 49, of Peru, who worked at the Clinton Correctional Facility, was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, third-degree receiving a bribe, second-degree official misconduct and third-degree rape, according to a spokesman with the state Department of Correctional Services. Spokesman Mike Houston said he would not be providing any specific information about the arrests because the incident is still under investigation. Godfrey was arrested Thursday, he said. She had worked as a correctional officer since November 1988 and had been at Clinton since November 2000, where she made about $45,000, Houston said. Godfrey was arraigned in the village of Dannemora court and sent to the Clinton County Jail on $1,000 bail. |
